Shane And Shane - Prodigal Me tab

Prodigal Me
Shane Barnard & Shane Everett
Key: E

tabbed & chorded by weksa

tutorial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sMt13nKWUHM

*This tab+chord sheet focuses on Shane B's guitar
from the live performance at Barry's Coffee House, Waco, TX, 2001.

*Cut capo on 2nd fret
(However, a normal capo could be used if you mute the proper strings)
 Chords relative to cut capo.
No chords will involve fretting in the same fret as the capo,
 so "0"s on the 6E, 2B, and 1e strings = play open.

*The (0) shown on the first A chord means that you don't really need
to play it, because it's the same note as the 3 on the B string.
I personally don't pick it, but if strumming then I'll include it.
I leave the 0 in the rest of the chord sheet, just for simplicity.

*To distinguish between the two D's, I name them D1 and D2.

Alternate Picking Pattern (if too hard, just focus on strumming the chords):
   D1 D2

Intro/1st part of verse:

e|---2----2----0---0----2---h3----0------------------------------|
B|---3--2h3----3---3----3----3----3------------------------------|
G|---4----4----2---2----0----0----2------------------------------|
D|---4----4----2-0h2----0----0----2------------------------------|
A|-0h2----2----0---0----2----2----0------------------------------|
E|---------------------------------------------------------------|

Chorus:
    D A G/B A repeat...
e|--5----0----2---h3----0----------------------------------------|
B|--3----3----3----3----3----------------------------------------|
G|--2----2----0----0----2----------------------------------------|
D|--0----2----0----0----2----------------------------------------|
A|-(0)---0----2----2----0----------------------------------------|
E|-(0)-----------------------------------------------------------|
These zeros are in parentheses because I think Shane B mutes them, letting Shane E's
guitar play the bass notes.
Since I play by myself, I would play the base notes.

(a) prodigal me
(b) the Master/Father
(c) the Master/Father's servants

*Lyrics based on the album recording on "Rocks Won't Cry"

D1 D2 G/B A
What have I done to get me here?
D1 D2 G/B A Bm
Unraveled and undone, I need my Father
           A G/B A Bm
What have I done? I've followed my feet to nowhere
        A G/B A
Now I'm here! as I ran, I can run no more
         intro
Prodigal me

D1 D2 G/B A D1
The mountains to the west, I hear them laugh at me
    D2 G/B A Bm
They know I'm scared to cross and leave this life I lead
      A G/B A Bm
Oh my pride! I give you up in barter for my freedom
               A G/B A D
What will they think as I come stumbling down to join their lives?

  A G/B A D
I need to cross this mountain and find my way home
  A G/B A D
I seek no greater fortune, rescue me
     A G/B A D
Oh unmerciful divide, be merciful tonight
        A G/B
Oh show me the other side

The mountains to the east, they've swallowed My beloved
     D2 G/B A Bm
This house completely incomplete, where is My mortar?
            A G/B A Bm
Where did he go? He followed his feet to nowhere
           A G/B A A
Please come home, youšve done Me no wrong

D1 D2 G/B
Each evening I look down that road
  A D1

Master, Master, it's Your son
       A D
Coming home to join our lives!
