This rendition of "Alive" by Krewella is based the version of the song that I watched on
YouTube. It is currently available under the username "KrewellaMusicVEVO".
This song is composed in the key of F# minor. The E major chord repeatedly played
throughout the song could be functioning as a secondary dominant, tonicizing an A major chord.
Thus, it would be a V/III in F# minor. However, F# minor is a disputable key signature.
In its form, the song seems to ambiguously shift between the realm of F# minor and A
major. Suppose for a moment that it's actually composed in the key of A major. Then,
there wouldn't be any foreign chords to analyze. Therefore, it might be considerate to
interpret the chords in the key of A major, while acknowledging the distinctive sonority
it shares with the relative minor key of F#.
In terms of its rhythmic properties, it conventionally utilizes common time (4/4) at a
tempo of approximately 128 beats per minute.
