THE SET-UP (YOU NEED THIS) – Reel Big Fish

Tuning: Standard (EADGBE)

So this is one of my absolute favourite RBF tunes. One thing I’ve noticed missing in
tabs of this song, and RBF songs in general is that Aaron likes to use full bar chords over
power chords most of the time. It just sounds a lot fuller. I’ll try to include lyrics
I can, to help figure out what part it is. Also, listen to the song for the exact
and count of the chords, because each person is gonna play it slightly differently, but
try to make it as accurate as a word processor allows.

In the chorus, it sounds like there’s a 2nd guitar playing the same chords, just them with a sort of wah or chorus effect. Main Riff Verse Pre-Chorus Chorus

(Now I’m not exactly sure about this little part before the chorus…I know it sounds uglythat’s what I’m hearing) “Yeah…yeah!”e|--7-7-7-7-5-5-5-5-7-7-7-7-5-5-5--------------------------------------------|B|--7-7-7-7-5-5-5-5-7-7-7-7-5-5-5--------------------------------------------|G|--7-7-7-7------------------------------------------------------------------|D|---------------------------------------------------------------------------|A|---------------------------------------------------------------------------|E|---------------------------------------------------------------------------|Chorus
Then it’s the chorus again, except the first two chords are played the octave down, like this.e|--0-0-0-0--2-2----7-7-7-7--5----7--7-----------|B|--0-0-0-0--2-2----7-7-7-7--5----9--9-----------|G|--1-1-1-1--2-2----8-8-8-8--6----9--9-----------|D|--2-2-2-2--4-4----9-9-9-9--7----9--9--------2--|A|--2-2-2-2--4-4----9-9-9-9--7----7--7--------0--|E|--0-0-0-0-----------------------------0-2-4----|
This next part is the same as the intro, except he plays the opening lick twice. On the time, play this.
e|--------------------|B|--------------------|G|-----------------2--|D|--2--2-----------2--|A|--2--2-----------0--|E|--0--0-4-3-2-3-4----|
As it fades out you can hear a 2nd guitar continue to play the chorus chords, but with a wah or chorus. Hopefully you can understand all of this, especially the solo. I have the notes down, it might be hard to read off paper. Anyways, I love this song, and now I hope I have you in some way to play this. Again, listen to the song to get the timing and such. Cheers. | / slide up | \ slide down | h hammer-on | p pull-off | ~ vibrato | + harmonic | X Mute note | b Bend up | r Release Bend | .
