When Mark plays his D he add his thumb on the top E string, and towards the end of while 
he's playing the Cadd9 looks like this.\

Strumming is all down strokes until the end where they sing the final part when they 
sing "All these Times Are Hard.........." They use a mixture of up and down strokes. Just 
watch Mark play that part and you should be able to work it out.
