If You're Reading This
Performed by Tim McGraw
Capo 4th Fret

I am not sure if this is exactly how they play it, but it sounds more precise
than just using the base chords.

Since the neck is capoed, these are really representative of the chord formations
rather than the actual chords (sound) being produced. You probably already
realize that but it was worth meantioning anyway.

G/B Cmaj7/G Dsus2
hangin up my boots. I'm up here with God and were both watching over you.

it would go. If you're reading this, I'm already home.

          G Dsus2/F# Em
If you're reading this, halfway round the world, I won't be there
                        C G
to see the birth of our little girl. I hope she looks like you, I hope she
Dsus2/F# Em C
fights like me. And stands up for the innocent and the weak.
       Am7 G/B Cmaj7/G
So I'm laying down my gun, and hangin up my boots. Tell dad I
                    Dsus2
don’t regret that I followed in his shoes.

   C Dsus2/F# Em Dsus2 C Dsus2
So lay me down, in that open field out on the edge of
           C Dsus2/F# Em Dsus2 C
town. And know my soul, is where my momma always prayed that
Dsus2 C Dsus2 Em Dsus2
it would go. If you're reading this, I'm already home.

Bridge: G11 Cmaj7 Dsus2

          G Dsus2/F# Em
If you're reading this there's gonna come a day, when you'll move
                               C G
on and find someone else, and that's okay. Just remember this, I'm in a
Dsus2/F# Em
better place, where soldiers live in peace and
       C Dsus2
angels sing "amazing grace"

   C Dsus2/F# Em Dsus2 C Dsus2
So lay me down, in that open field out on the edge of
          C Dsus2/F# Em Dsus2 C
town. And know my soul, is where my momma always prayed
     Dsus2 C Dsus2
that it would go. If you're reading this, if you're reading this…
            G11 Cmaj7 Dsus2 G~
I'm already home.

Note: There is a little bit of picking on the Dsus2 prior to the chorus and
within the chorus that you can feel out. It is basically done on the high E
string by hammering on the F# note to make the chord a solid D and then pulling
off back to a Dsus2. There is also a little extra picking in the
intro/bridge/outtro riff that is too hard for me to try to describe here. It is
mainly on the 4th string of the G11.
