DI think I tried to wake up too fast
BmFrom what must have been a two year nap
G A DThen I hit my head and it was back to bed for a while
I woke up twenty-four in Texas
BmBreaking a sweat to expand my Nexus
G AWhen it occurred to me, maybe I shouldn't be
DMaking excuses to cope so liberally
They say some things just don't wash out
BmBut I've been dying to know what getting clean is all about
GAnd now years have gone by
ABut it's still stuck in my mind
DSome things just don't wash out
DFor too long now I've sung the same sad song
BmBut I didn't even write it; I was just singing along
G ABut the problem with change is it's hard
DLike finding lively conversation in graveyards
I hit the nail on the head, drove it straight through my hand
BmI have martyred myself in a scheme not so grand
G AMore deserving of men left to rot in a rag
DHaven't done shit with my life and my skin is starting to sag
GYou drink too much, your mind's unfit
AYou really can't afford to live like this
GYou're only almost there, but still so far
AEveryone? Everyone!
DThey say some things just don't wash out
BmBut I've been dying to know what getting clean is all about
GAnd now years have gone by
ABut it's still stuck in my mind
DSome things just don't wash out
D#2Weak sister, close your eyes
D#3 D#4Lay your burdens down and fall asleep
D#5 D D#2Life starts again tomorrow
D D#2 D#3You need this, you want that
D#4 You're better off alone
D#5 AYou need this, you want that
D#2 DYou've gotta dig
D#2 D#3You've got to dig
D#4 You've gotta dig
D#5 D#2You've got to dig
DThey say some things just don't wash out
BmBut I've been dying to know what getting clean is all about
GAnd now years have gone by
ABut it's still stuck in my mind
DSome things just don't wash out
BmSome things just don't wash out
GNow years have gone by
ABut it's still stuck in my mind
DSome things just don't wash out
