I grew up listening to this song, and it brings back fond memories of traveling up to London in the back of my Mum and Dad's car with my Sister, to visit my Nan and Grandad. My Sister used to cry her eyes out every time we put it on (without fail) much to my amusement. She got her own back on me though by getting them to play 'Everything I own' by Bread. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ad_barrett++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Count in: 2,3,4 Intro: A,E,B,E A,A,B x2 E Counts the days into years Yes 82 brings many fears A AaddC# Yesterday’s laughter turns to tears A His arms, his legs don’t feel so strong E His heart is weak there’s something wrong B Opens windows in despair Trying to breath in some fresh air A His conscience cries “get on your feet” E “Without you Jack the town cant eat” E B A Grocer Jack grocer Jack get off your back B E Go into town don’t let them down C#m Oh no no (repeat) A,A,B E The people that live in the town Don’t understand A AaddC# He’s never been known to miss his round A Its 10 o’clock the housewife’s yell E When Jack turns up we’ll give him hell B Husbands moan at breakfast tables No milk no eggs no marmalade labels A E Mothers send the children out to Jacks house To scream and shout E B A Grocer Jack grocer Jack get off your back B E Come into town don’t let us down C#m Oh no no (Repeat) Solo (fanfare) A,B,E,C#m,B,C#m,A,B As intro A,E,B,E E Its Sunday morning bright and clear Lovely flowers A AaddC# decorate a marble square A People cry and walk away E Think about the fateful day B Now they wish they’d given Jack More affection and respect A The little children dressed in black E Don’t know what’s happened to old Jack E B Grocer Jack grocer Jack A B Is it true what mummy says E You wont come back C#m Oh no no (REPEAT X5) Chorus chords repeat to fade.
