"Day of the Eagle" from the 1974 Chrysalis release "Bridge of Sighs" by
Robin Trower -- tabbed by Joe Richardson (jdrich@vuse.vanderbilt.edu)

Notes:

I'm not sure whether or not this is in standard tune. Listen for the
open E string in Figs A & B. Also, I have included approximate times from
my CD player readout to make some of the lead work easier to follow.

First solo (1:56). It sounds like he has a wah rocked all the way back and is using the tremolo (which I don't have) for much of the vibrato and bends. This sounds very close if you are also tremolo deficient.

This seems to be a good stopping point, although there is a cool lick around 4:37, or so. The recording has faded 3 or 4 dB and a second guitar track, which was back in the mix previously, has been gaining in volume and I think tabbing two lead guitars is rather tedious. Lyrics: I've not figured out whether this song is about religion, sexual conquest, or law enforcement, so I may have some mistakes with the lyrics. Help would be appreciated. Fig. A (intro) Fig. B (2X) 1st verse: (beginning on 5th staff of Fig. B, second time through) I saw a light just up ahead, But I couldn't seem to rise up from my bed. I'm not alone and then I am. Some people seem to think I'm Superman, * But I watch for the love. I'm livin' in the Day of the Eagle-- * Eagle not the ..... dove. Fig. A (etc.) 2nd verse: * It's like a weight that brings me down. * If I don't move, I'm on the ground. It's in my mind. It's in my soul. It's telling me things that can't (be told?). * It says "Watch for love." I'm livin' in the Day of the Eagle-- * Eagle not the ..... dove. First solo. 3rd verse: Another day, another night. * I wanna love--they wanna fight. I need the time. I've got to be alone. * I've got to think it over on my own. * But I watch for the love. I'm livin' in the Day of the Eagle-- Eagle not the ..... dove. Fig. A "Ride out" solo over Fig. C. * Lines updated from 1974 Bridge of Sighs songbook courtesy of Scott Robinson (NavalHist@aol.com) Please feel free to email any improvements to me. Hope you enjoy.
