Bad Books – Texas chords

Tuning (this tab): Drop D

For the chords, I like to use the open chord and strum the A,D, and G
strings. Occasionally, Andy will strum the lower bass notes or hit the higher
strings, but for the most part, he plays the chords on the "middle" strings.

Drop D:

D GMy love has gone away
D APacked up her bags and then boarded that plane
D GAnd I guess that the time I figured you’d wait
A G DTeary face, leaky breath, a bitter taste
D GTripped out for 600 years
D AWho would have thought I’d make it last year?
D GIn a way it makes sense that I died and reappeared
A G DAs that fly you’ve been swatting for years
D GCalm down and make him a drink
D APretty small town and the gossip repeats
G A DShe took off her clothes and sat on the bed next to me
D GMy heart is pumping my blood,
D Ayour hearts not beating at all
G A DIn a way it makes sense that it isn’t, it just never was
D GRight now, a sinful exchange
D AOnce done, unspeakable shame
D GAnd I should’ve known where I took the blame
A G DThe sweat and the shame fireless flame
A GPlease god don’t take him too
D ATake me, a replicant fool
G A DLost a gear and now I hardly move
A DHe’s a kid, I’m a fool
D GPlease son, where is your faith?
D ATake off your bushels set fire to your pain
G A D You will heal like a cut, let it scar let it scab, let it stain
G A DIn a while I promise you’ll see
G A D AYou’re alive, not the blemish or burns that you keep on your feet
D GI am a towel that is soaked to the core,
D A heavier now than it’s gotten before
D GAnd something inside of me needs more and more,
A G Dsooner than later never no more
A G DSooner than later, never no more
